The Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing (Prevention) Act (Wwft) describes the regulations that organizations must comply with to combat the laundering of criminal money. The Wwft applies to anyone involved in financial transactions, such as banks, notaries, but also to so-called domicile providers (mail address providers). These organizations have a legal gatekeeper function. They must use a number of checks to verify that companies and individuals who want to use their services (customers) are not involved in possible or plausible illegal activities. If, in the organization's opinion, this is likely to be the case, these "customers" must be rejected. In addition, they have a reporting obligation. This also applies if remarkable transactions or activities are observed in existing customers.
As a domicile provider (address provider), we also fall under the Wwft. We are legally obliged to carry out a number of checks before we can definitively accept a customer. That is why we ask for some additional information during the application process. Only in this way are we allowed to offer you our services and start handling your business mail. If we do not receive this information or cannot verify its accuracy, we cannot accept you as a customer.
Asking for all this information may seem a bit unsympathetic, but this regulation applies to all domicile providers. If other address providers do not ask for this information, you should actually be on your guard. On the other hand, it is also reassuring that with us you have a partner who has been committed to compliance for 30 years and therefore also complies with the Wwft obligations.
In our General Terms and Conditions (art. 9) you can read how we deal with this gatekeeper function. Click here for more information from the government about the Wwft: https://www.rijksoverheid.nl/onderwerpen/financiele-sector/aanpak-witwassen-en-financiering-terrorisme
