Decline in the number of self-employed workers has stalled.
At the end of February, 1,770,355 self-employed persons were registered in the Trade Register. That was 1,600 more than a month earlier, and thus the decline in the number of self-employed persons of recent months seems to have come to a halt.
Especially in the health care ( - 1,750) and construction (-280) sectors a decrease can be seen. A major cause may be the stricter control that the tax authorities are carrying out on false self-employment. After all, as a self-employed person, you are not allowed to be hired and then work as if you were an employee.
But other sectors actually saw an increase in the number of self-employed, especially in ICT and sectors such as: culture, sports, accountancy, consulting or administration. A total of 1,300 zzp'ers were added there alone.
However, so-called "sleeping" self-employed persons must be taken into account. They leave their registration in the Trade Register but no longer carry out assignments.
